Well, I’m getting tons of practice with all of the little munchkins lately. It’s good I need it. They’re challenging and keep me on my toes. They take a while, but the end result is always sweet little one pictures.

Holly, Andrew, and Max welcomed baby Anathea on January 18th. A robust 8lbs. 9ozs, this little one is a sleeper . . . . .well, . . . .. according to Mom, that is. I’ve got a magic touch. I can make even the most sleepiest of sleepy babies snap out of it and wake up. I’m being totally sarcastic! It’s just funny. I always want sleepy baby pics, but somehow end up with the newbies with superhero strengths that kick their legs out from underneath them, lift their heads, and push away. I’m just waiting for one to say to me, “what in the world are you trying to do with me!”.

I’ve decided to just embrace the awake baby, at any age! They’re cute awake or asleep and I’ve just got to adapt to working a little bit harder and longer.

Nonetheless, I had a blast with Ana. She’s so totally adorable and squishy. Congrats Holly, Andrew, and Max!

My former bride and groom, Crystal and Scott, are totally adorable, so it was no surprise to me that their son Tyler was totally adorable. We literally did this one year photo session on the anniversary of his birthday. He’s the happiest baby. This babe only fussed once and it was when they took him off of the vintage tractor. . . still made for a cute picture and he loved that tractor.

We rounded out our session with a mini birthday celebration. Crystal had brought along a red velvet cupcake for him to poke around with. He was less than interested and didn’t like being messy. Still some cute pictures.

Happy Birthday Tyler and congrats again to Scott & Crystal for a job well done!

Doogan comes out to Play

Nothing more challenging to me than working with our animals. Take them to the great outdoors and they’re eager to play, explore, and not have their picture taken. I dig the spirit of our four-legged friends.

Doogan had his own agenda the day my assistant Kristen asked me to do a Fall portrait session for her and her husband. As we navigated the park and gave Doogan a chance to settle in and tire, well, a little, we were able to squeeze in some great shots.

The leaves gave way to their full glory as we strolled the grounds in what is an idyllic Fall setting. Can you say Christmas greeting card? Tis the season.

Bad to the Bone

I have a great set of neighbors; Cathy and Steve. The type of people that are always there for you and giving of themselves without hesitation. Cathy acts and stands in as Mom’s helper quite often as I’m ducking out the door during a weekday to go on a shoot, run an errand, or go to the gym. She is my domestic manager so to speak, and an invaluable friend. She has saved me many a times and I’m eternally grateful for having the opportunity to know her in this lifetime.

So, when she recently asked me to do a shoot for her husband and his ‘Hog’ for his birthday, I jumped at the opportunity not giving it a second thought. Not really realizing how cool this session could be. I just wanted to be able to reciprocate where and whenever I could, albeit photography.

But I could see the minute I arrived on set in their immaculate garage that the potential was great for some super cool imagery.

Steve needed very little guidance during our shoot. I guess when you have a chrome-adorned Harley as your backdrop, it’s entirely impossible to not appear ‘bad’ and confident.

We rounded our session out with a trip to a local car graveyard. No lie, this guy has over 100 rusted relics just laying around his yard! Got to love JoCo! And Steve had lamented to Cathy in the past that he always wanted to get his picture taken with his bike at the local Gro. The place, pretty-much a graveyard itself, at sunset, was the perfect way to end this Bad to the Bone session.
