Who I am . . . .

At heart, I am a kid.
At play, I am an artist.
At work, I'm giving a 100% of who I am to my art.
At home, I am a Mom and a wife and an accountant
and a nurse and a chauffeur and a cleaning lady
and a landscaper and an interior decorator and a chef.
I'm not perfect at it, but I work very hard at it everyday.

What you should know about me . . . . .
I'm entirely laid back and fun.
I like making people laugh.
I love a challenge.
My artistic eye and penchant for relating to people, I recognize and
embrace as my gift.
Being a photographer doesn't define who I am, but it certainly has
shaped the person I've become.
I'm a better person because of my photography and my clients;
my muses!

Am I wise? . . . . .
I've come so far and gained so much as a person by experiencing the
good alongside the bad.
I believe that in every obstacle or sticky situation in life, there is
an opportunity for growth in some way.
That a day not thinking about the future is a day neglected.

I am unique. I am close to my heart.
Bottomline, this is me!

Raleigh, NC Photog Shootout – I’m an Instructor!

Raleigh, NC Photog Shootout

So excited to be asked to be a part of this and honored too! Essentially put it’s open to all photogs. whom are looking to connect, share, and learn from local professionals. My topic is boudoir: posing, lighting, and connecting with your clients.

My blurb: Vintage with a modern twist is in and ever-present in photography today and incorporating that into boudoir is sexy. Women want to feel transformed, special, and removed from their mundane daily looks. We’re bombarded with imagery on a daily basis of what’s sexy and to live that transformation through a glamourous makeover and then sexy boudoir session really elevates my clients and fulfills me personally. My approach, bottomline, is playful and fun!  I believe if you get your clients’ minds off of their flaws(every single client points them out!) and into their fun and playfulness, you will have winning images that will resonate with your clients.

My other fellow photogs whom are participating as Shootout Instructors are:

Cara Grace Galati & Jonathank Kazmierzak with f8 Studios -f8 studios

Brett + Allison-Preston Woodall House – Benson, NC

What a wedding! I met the sweet couple back at the bridal show last January when Allison came gimping up to me on crutches. Joel Hurley from the Preston Woodall House in Benson was at the same show and sent them my way. Thanks Joel!! We talked for awhile and later wrapped things. They were to have a formal military cadence ceremony incorporated into their 220+ guest wedding.

With so many details at hand, they hired the help of the wonderfully talented, Shawn Schindler of  Your Special Day to pull the navy and gold color scheme together. There were so many pretty touches to the magnolia clad wedding which was evident at the altar and on the cake. Flowers by Kelly Odom graced the centerpieces as well as the altar and the navy blue cake(no pun intended as Brett seerves in the United States Navy) was done by no other than Donna of Sweet Memories in Apex.

It was a lively reception as the 6 piece band The Fabulous Shades played on through the night. I think everyone stayed until the end which made for the most impressive sparkler exit.

Best wishes to Brett + Allison! And Brett, hats off for serving our great nation and to the both of you for your sacrifice!

First S-town Studio Bridal

So psyched that my studio is working for itself and one such client came my way as a passerby. Kathryn and her Mom were strolling the streets when they stumbled upon my studio. We were actually in the middle of a Vintage Vixen session so I had to ask them to call me so we could arrange for a consultation to talk more about their bridal needs. They came in the next few days proclaiming that they were looking for different style bridal portraits(she had soft green bridal shoes!) and they thought that my studio would be great for the session.

We set our date for about a month and a half out and I had told them that I would have a new settee or sofa of some sort to shoot on for her session. It was a personal goal of mine to find something. And low and behold, the trusty Craigslist pulled through. Found a gorgeous Duncan Phyfe, beaten up, tattered with lumpy history and I knew it was going to be ideal. It was! I’m so psyched about this $150 find!

Here are some of my favorite pics from our session.

AKA Adria

And I use the AKA because this girl can morph into several different Hollywood celebs in the click of my shutter. I realized during and post session that Adria had looks reminiscent of Mariah Carey, Jessica Biel, and Diane Lane. To sum it up, she’s gorgeous and really gave great face during our session!
