What started out as rehearsals for the Spring play at Durham Academy during high school has taken my August 16th couple down the aisle of the Courtyard at Treyburn Country Club in Durham.
The road from highschool sweethearts to rival college schools UNC(Brienne’s alma mater) and Duke(Richard’s alma mater) to now husband and wife was paved with what Brienne quoted as ’4 days of a drama-filled break-up’ during the Summer of their senior year in highschool. Clearly, they were meant to be together because after patching the silly squabble, they have now survived bitter rival basketball season’s during their undergrad years.
Since Brienne had been looking into Harvard Law, Richard fortified the decision to trek north by securing an accounting job in Boston. So, when Brienne the law student, and Richard the traumatized southern accountant(he misses his sweet tea and Carolina BBQ) moved to Boston, Richard sealed the deal with an October 2007 proposal.
And the rest is passe`. Best wishes Richard and Brienne!

About sums it up. I had such a great time with Caroline and Joshua (Crockett kids) as I often do with my littlest subjects. It’s such a friendly reminder of what it’s like to not have a care in the world and to just have fun.
Our session of fun took place at Friends Together Park in Cary, NC one of my favorites, nevermind my own kids’ favs and it often makes me question why we don’t have a fun place like this in our hometown; Clayton. We got down and dirty on tire swings, climbing structures, in sand, and with bubbles. Sided by a little sugary fix at the end, cupcakes from the local bakery. Time to go home with Mom. I write that with a smile.

It was a gorgeous Summer evening. I planned it that way. Not really, but I can tell you this that the Summer sunlight is gorgeous around 6:30. It’s warm. It’s glowy. It wraps around and envelopes the subjects you shoot. I love it. And you throw in the backdrop at Rose Hill Plantation and Conference Center and my very vintage looking bride, Mary, and you’re set for some great imagery.
I got lost in the time. Mary, Martha(my assistant) and I had so much fun playing in almost 2 hours of photography. I’m not shy about asking for pictures from my brides. I like pushing the edges. And Mary was not contrary as the fable does tell. She didn’t object a bit when I asked her get down on the ground for some pictures. With her Aunt’s veil from the yester year’s(her something borrowed) laid out behind her and her very sexy heel kicked to the sky, we said good-bye to traditional photography and went for the fun, Stacy style!

Pretty much describes the wedding of Jen & Matt. I mean how can you have a reception at a place called Marbles Kids Museum and not have fun? Yet, there was a distinct ‘air’ of fashion and impeccable attention to detail as well.
For a photographer who thrives in new scenarios with interesting architectural lines, textures, and colors, this place had it going on! Nevermind the fact you throw in a gorgeous bride in a dress we’ll affectionately call ‘Monique’, short for Monique Lhullier(that dress had a personality all its’ own), an adorably cute groom and 2.5 hours in between wedding and reception to photographically ‘play’, bet your bottom dollar I had fun with it!
The romance truly began for this couple when Matt called Jen from Snoopy Hotdog’s(they were already mild acquaintances) to see if she wanted a bite and wanted to hang out. And so it was a beautiful melding of ‘dogs and krinkle fries which sent them on their journey down the aisle. The specific aisle of the Sacred Heart Cathedral played host to their 150+ guests on that ever so lucky ‘cooler’ August afternoon. 85 degrees? C’mon guys. How lucky are you that in the sweltering state of North Cackalack that it broke into the 80′s for your wedding day in August?
After a gorgeous plated dinner catered by Catering Works, the couple hacked into the 4 tier masterpiece by Cinda’s Creative Cakes(one of my personal, local favs) layers of chocolate chip and tiramisu cake. Could it get a little more sinful?! After many rounds of dancing, the Michigan State fight song, loads of cocktails, the couple was off and on their way to honeymoon bliss via transportation provided by Raleigh Rickshaws. What a fun ending to a fun day!
Congrats Jen and Matt!

Easily said as I come off the wedding of Cat & Noah. The musically inclined, fantastic couple exchanged vows in Four Oaks with a fantastic reception at the Johnston County Country Club. Black and yellow with splashes of lime green were evident in the flowers, bridesmaids dresses, oh, and the antique Rolls. Yes, Cat’s Uncle played chaffeur to the newlyweds as they left their church and were driven by him in his black and pale yellow Rolls. Very fun for pictures. Could’ve shot that car all day!
The country-style buffet gave way to the dance floor as it was backdropped by a 4 piece jazz band. Romantic. And the WakeForest/UNCG couple, bride/groom respectively, were reminded of their differences when Cat upon her chair throne and her fellow alum friends sang the Demon Deacon’s fight song. This was challenged by the sentimental family members on Noah’s side as they serenaded the new Mr. & Mrs. a song of rich family tradition; customized especially for them.
I walked away from this wedding, thinking, WOW! What a great couple. What two great families! And love was the underlying theme; as it should be.

And the happy couple is off to their honeymoon in Quebec.
Congratulations Cat&Noah!
